• Welcome to Federico Giménez house in Almería. Furniture from antique markets and vintage stores give character to this fresh and fun space. If you want to visit it more closely you can rent the house in Airbnb.

  • Hi! Today I wanted to share with you the styling of the cabinet I have in the hallway. I use it to accommodate some of the things to lay the table. I painted it white and I changed the doors so now I have three shelves that are exposed and three more that are concealed. All the things were already there, I bought only three items to decorate and bring some of the colors I will be using around the apartment. The yellow bird, the scandinavian horse and the lantern. It is not a professional styling but it serves as wall decoration.

  • Do you remember that photo of Karen Akers?

I love that sleep cover, it makes the room. And today, reading 79ideas I saw a post about the new "cozy autumm ideas by Toast".

And finally, I found where Santa Claus will have to go to pick this amazing blanket. I feel like a detective... Have a nice weekend!

  • Hi everyone! Now it's the hallway's turn. It's the first thing you see coming from the front door so it's kind of important.
I repaired the ceiling, painted the walls and the wood trim white, spray painted the door knobs in black (there wasn't budget for 6 new knobs) and I installed the new wood floors.
I had purchased two pendant lights for the hallway, but the front door is too close to the first light so I decided to buy these two ceiling lamps that mimic the glass from the top of the doors.
The mirror was already in the apartment, but I moved it to another wall and I painted in white. To spray paint the frame more easily I disassemble it first. Finally, I add some diy hangers made from some remaining wood and a basket for the shoes. I hope you like it!

  • I have recently discovered the work of Karen Akers, an interior designer based in Sidney, and I think the images speak for themselves. I love the simple, clean, fresh style and the use of natural materials.

  • You are probably wondering why I want to renovate this apartment. Here is the main reason.
These photos were taken from the balcony.

  • There is still a lot of work to do but after patching, cleaning, painting and doing all that work is nice to add some art on the walls and change the old bedding. It is true, accessories can change the style of a room.  Here is what I used:
Ikea Nyponros – Ikea Liselott – Ikea Fohoja – Ikea Gurli – Ikea Besta – Zara Home knobs – Flos Tab T

When I start this renovation one of the requirements was to spend the least possible. The Ikea besta desk is 269$ but I found in the opportunities section, one that was used on the store for 85$ (you can see a picture below). It is a less wide model, it was in perfect condition and it was also labelled as a malm desk. I got the Flos Tab T on an online sale at vente-privee.com for 90$, I think this color wasn’t very popular so it was on sale too.

  • An easy way to update these bunk beds was to spray paint them and add some cool textile underneath. I changed the mattress base for a wood plank that I had from another bed and I upholstered it with an ikea textile.  Now is more comfortable and the view from the bed below has improved a lot. Do you want to see what was before?

  • Very soon I will be writing more about this apartment, why I am working on it, the layout, location and much more. But for now, let’s take a look to this small room with green bunk beds and a small window. It was a dark room, awful flooring, and it was used as a junk room as you can see. Now is one of my favorite spaces of the apartment. I think it looks better in the reality because the iPhone pictures don't make justice, but you can see what a difference a little of white paint can do for a space.
  • What better way to start than updating the front door. The truth is that I’ve always wanted a yellow door but the building doesn’t allow creativity in this matter. So for now I painted it white, I changed the number and added a doorknob (it was necessary). I would like to find a better knob and maybe some decoration. Do you have any ideas?
  • Welcome to diy summer blog and thank you for stopping by !

Interior design is one of my passions. Two years ago I moved to my first non furnished apartment – during my studies in Europe I always rented furnished apartments – and since then, my interest in interior design and diy has become a reality. After living in 6 different apartments with no more than 20kg of my staff (airlines don’t allow much more) I was anxious to buy a chair or a rug and painting some walls! Imagine when I moved to a 50 square meter apartment with no furniture, white walls (almost yellow) and 80 years of experience in this world.

Despite it is a rental space, I have tried to update it and the most important thing, turn it to a comfortable and beautiful space.

I have been following some a lot of blogs for several years now and what I love the most are these before and after. So I thought, maybe I could share some of mine. A 50 square meter apartment doesn’t allow much, but I recently started a renovation of an apartment (not much bigger) near the beach that hasn’t been updated since 1980. I’ve done and I will be doing much of the work during the summer, but maybe I can post my inspiration or ideas waiting for the next summer. I would love to hear yours!

Having a budget can be a problem or a lot of fun!
